Following a recent advertisement by the Busch Valentine campaign showcasing a Missouri woman who claims to have been denied life-saving care for a nonviable pregnancy, the Attorney General’s (AG) office has begun sending cease and desist letters to television stations in Missouri airing the advertisement. An investigation has also been opened into the woman featured in the advertisement.
The woman in the advertisement, Mylissa Farmer, was forced to go to Illinois for an abortion after restrictive laws in Missouri made the legality of her circumstances unclear. Although the pregnancy was deemed nonviable and potentially life threatening for Farmer, when she contacted her representative and the AG’s office, she simply received referrals to an anti-abortion resource center.
Farmer’s struggle to receive life saving medical care due to the ambiguity of state laws should be an alarm to all Missourians about the dangers and incompetencies Missouri has begun to experience at the hands of Schmitt. Not only has Schmitt endorsed radical abortion laws, but he has also engaged in retaliatory behavior against a citizen whom he is meant to be representing.
Still, Farmer is not the only private citizen Schmitt has appeared to target during the campaign. As our blog post on last Monday the 24th indicated where a Missouri State University professor was being investigated by the AG’s office following a series of tweets critical of the Schmitt campaign were tweeted from the professor’s personal account.
Considering the Schmitt campaign’s repeated retaliatory measures against private citizens it makes sense to begin to ask “what does Schmitt truly care about?” Rather than using these moments as an opportunity for improvement and to show his compassion and courage for the people of Missouri, the Schmitt campaign time and time again has been proven to be incapable of handling criticism and incapable of putting the people of Missouri first.

In contrast, Trudy Busch Valentine has proven herself to be the right person to lead Missouri through these difficult times with courage and compassion. She has fought everyday on the campaign trail for Missourians and continues to invoke a message of people over politics.
In one week, Missourians will have an important decision to make, and it is time to choose the candidate who truly cares about the people of Missouri. On November 8, vote Trudy Busch Valentine for Senate.
