As Missourians head into the 2022 midterm elections intense speculation has occurred on the campaign trail as to what issues are on the line. In recent Marist polling data, reported by NPR, it was found that the highest profile issues heading into November remain at inflation and abortion access, with inflation barely edging out the Dobbs decision as the most critical issue for voters.
Examining, the platforms of both Trudy Busch Valentine and Eric Schmitt it becomes apparent Schmitt continues to remain out of touch in his message to voters with no mention on his website of either inflation or abortion access as of the publication of this article.
Rather, he continues to spread misinformation about the 2020 election, and tackle issues of big tech and so-called “cancel culture.” At this point, the average voter has to ask themselves, “how out of touch is Schmitt?” With a poverty rate sitting just above the national average, most Missourians are still struggling to keep themselves afloat financially and put food on the table, the average voter doesn’t have time to focus on whether or not their tweet didn’t receive enough likes, or their Facebook comment was deleted.
Schmitt’s concerns about big tech censorship and cancel culture may stem from his continued message of misinformation surrounding the coronavirus pandemic and the 2020 election. Neither of which are helping families fight rising prices on gas, groceries, and other basic necessities.
However, Busch Valentine is bringing solutions, not propaganda, to the people of Missouri. She continues to advocate for investing in the economy, infrastructure, and industry to uplift the middle class and fight for wage increases to ease the burdens many Missouri families are facing as we head into the Midterm elections. With her background in healthcare as a nurse, she also continues to fight for legal and safe abortion access entrusting in every woman the right to choose what’s right for HER body.
All the while, Schmitt remains adamant it’s Busch Valentine who remains out of touch claiming her as a “billionaire heiress” out of touch with the concerns of voters coming into November. Schmitt continues to complain about rising inflation numbers and cost of everyday necessities; however, Missourians know simply pointing out the problem is not enough. Now is the time to get to work. Schmitt is filled with complaints, but when it’s time to find solutions he has no plan.
It’s the Schmitt campaign who is truly “out of touch” with voters. The time has run out for complaints, now is the time to get to work and only one candidate is bringing real solutions to Washington for the people of Missouri in this election. That is the candidate Missourians should vote for this November; and that candidate is Trudy Busch Valentine.
