Amidst attacks on her privileged status from the Schmitt campaign, Busch Valentine sat down on ‘The Record’ and showed voters a much more vulnerable side of herself that is not often seen in today’s political arena.

Coming from familial wealth, Busch Valentine knew her privileged status would come into question in her bid for US Senate, stating in her interview, “It doesn't mean because I have money that I am any less a human being.” Choosing to acknowledge her privileged status, Busch Valentine still showed a vulnerable side of herself, showing her compassion for others and highlighting some of the painful struggles she has endured helping to inspire her bid for Senate.

Rather than relying on her family’s wealth through Anheuser-Busch, Busch Valentine chose to pursue her passion to become a nurse, “I became a nurse a long time ago because I care about others. And all through my life, I've tried to give back and help others.” This compassion continues to shine throughout her campaign with her stances on gun control, healthcare, and social justice.

Opening up further, Busch Valentine showed strength in discussing her life as a young widow raising six children and the difficulty of child loss, having lost one of her six children to a drug overdose. These experiences, as well as her experience as a nurse, bring light to her emphasis on healthcare and equity throughout her campaign, as well as her solution to the opioid crisis and addiction epidemic plaguing communities across Missouri and nationwide.

Trudy Busch Valentine continues to show time and time again how she is the candidate in this race with the experience, values, and reasoning to fight for Missouri and Missouri values in DC. She said, “I am running to put politics aside and put people first.”
