Yesterday Trudy Busch Valentine tweeted out her new TV advertisement. She talks about how Eric Schmitt’s mandate made Missouri the first state to ban abortions with no exceptions of rape or incest, and she claims that this restriction is “un-American.”
The focus of the video was her perspective on health care access and a woman's right to an abortion. As a nurse, Valentine feels very strongly that whatever occurs in office should not infringe on a healthcare right. This video perfectly consolidates one of her biggest concerns running for office
She later quoted the tweet of her video and said, “women in Missouri are mad as hell, and in November, we’re going to vote like it.”
The issue surrounding abortion could potentially tip the scale for this upcoming election. Schmitt’s abortion stance is extreme and his ban caused major outcries from many women in Missouri, especially since it was followed by the overturning of Roe v Wade. After what seemed to be a cultural reset on abortion rights, more Republicans have remained quieter on their abortion stances. For example, Blake Masters the Republican Senate nominee in Arizona, has changed his rhetoric on his abortion stance and moderated his website on this matter- they know it is a huge threat to their campaign and chances of winning.
Valentine’s experience as a nurse and mother validates her transparency on this issue. As a healthcare expert, Valentine understands the importance of a woman’s right to choose and will continue to fight for this right for women in Missouri and nationwide once she takes on the Senate role in November!
Abortion is healthcare
